About The Position

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is responsible for providing high-quality, culturally competent primary care services to infants, children, and adolescents at Tule River Indian Health Center, Inc. (TRIHCI). This role focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic pediatric conditions, while ensuring alignment with Indian Health Service (IHS), AAAHC, and applicable federal and state standards. The PNP collaborates with medical and behavioral health staff to provide holistic care to Native American and underserved pediatric populations.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) through a nationally recognized certifying body (e.g., PNCB or ANCC).
  • Active and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license with furnishing number.
  • Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe Schedule II-V substances.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Possess valid First Aid/CPR certification at the BCLS level or obtain within 3 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in pediatric primary care preferred.
  • Experience working with Native American or underserved pediatric populations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive pediatric health assessments, including physical exams, developmental screenings, and behavioral evaluations.
  • Diagnose and manage acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic pediatric conditions.
  • Prescribe medications, immunizations, and therapeutic interventions in accordance with scope of practice and clinical protocols.
  • Provide anticipatory guidance and health education to patients and families regarding nutrition, growth, safety, disease prevention, and development.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health clinicians, case managers, and community health staff to ensure coordinated care.
  • Document all clinical encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Monitor and ensure pediatric compliance with IHS immunization schedules and well-child visit standards.
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists or services as needed and follow up on care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, chart reviews, and care coordination meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with AAAHC, IHS, HIPAA, and all other regulatory guidelines and clinic policies.
