About The Position

Nemours is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider to work at our Alafaya Primary Care Office in Orlando, Florida. This role focuses on providing medical and nursing care to pediatric patients with acute or chronic illnesses, emphasizing a patient/family-centered care approach. The provider will perform comprehensive physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests to create treatment plans, and make appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and agencies for specialized services. This includes referrals to medical subspecialists, therapy services, nutritional counseling, and educational/developmental support. The role also involves developing or approving in-school management plans and making recommendations for diet, activity, counseling, education, and health promotion within the scope of practice. The position requires commitment to working two Saturdays a month for 4 to 6 hours each. The provider will also initiate other necessary measures or procedures based on patient condition, physician judgment, and their own training and judgment.

Requirements

Must have certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Must have current Florida APRN or PA license in good standing
Previous pediatric experience required
Current American Heart Association BLS

Responsibilities

Provides medical and nursing care to pediatric patients with acute or chronic illnesses, with a patient/family centered care focus.
Performs complete or focused physical examinations.
Orders, performs, and/or interprets diagnostic or screening tests in order to develop treatment plans.
Refers clients to other health care professionals and agencies as appropriate for specialized services, including but not limited to: other medical subspecialists, physical and occupational therapy, nutritional counseling and management, special education, growth and development/behavioral counseling.
Develops or approves in-school management plans for patients as appropriate.
Makes dietary, activity/exercise, counseling, education and health promotion recommendations within the APRN scope of practice.
Initiates any other measure/procedure for which the APRN has been trained depending on patient’s condition and judgment of the physician and the APRN.
