About The Position

The Division of Critical Care Medicine at Nemours Children’s Hospital Delaware is seeking a Board-eligible/Board-certified Pediatric Intensivist to join their team. This physician will be directly involved in patient care within a 24-32 bed pediatric ICU, managing patients with diverse medical, surgical, and trauma-related critical illnesses. The role includes daytime clinical service and in-house nighttime call responsibilities, overseeing patient management, procedures, and educating trainees. Collaboration with nursing and ancillary departments is essential for a teamwork approach to family-centered care. Academic interests in research, informatics, quality improvement/patient safety, education, or administration/operations are required to enhance clinical expertise and expand the impact of Nemours on pediatric critical illness. The PICU at Nemours utilizes a multi-professional, multi-specialty collaborative care model that is patient- and family-centered. Nemours is a leading pediatric health care system dedicated to preventing and treating childhood conditions through clinical treatment, research, advocacy, education, and prevention. An academic appointment is awarded by Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

Requirements

  • MD, DO or equivalent clinical doctoral degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
  • Completion of a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program.
  • Board Eligibility/Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
  • Eligibility to obtain valid DEA and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Delaware.
  • Demonstrable area of academic pursuit in research, informatics, quality/patient safety, medical education, health services, and/or administration/clinical operations to complement clinical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Direct involvement in patient care in a 24-32 bed pediatric ICU.
  • Management of patients with various medical, surgical, and trauma-related critical illnesses.
  • Daytime clinical service and in-house nighttime call responsibilities.
  • Overall direction of patient management and procedures.
  • Education of resident, fellow, and other trainees.
  • Working closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments.
  • Maintaining a teamwork approach to family-centered care.
  • Pursuing academic interests in research, informatics, quality improvement/patient safety, education, or administration/operations.
  • Optimizing professional contributions locally and expanding Nemours' impact on pediatric critical illness regionally and nationally.
