About The Position
We are seeking a Physician specializing as a Pediatric Hospitalist for a Locum Tenens position in Eureka, CA. This inpatient role involves providing call-only coverage for scheduling needs. The coverage period is from October 15, 2026, ongoing, with specific dates available throughout late 2026. The physician will manage a patient mix of 80% neonatal (32+ weeks) and 20% pediatric patients, handling approximately 2 admissions and 2 discharges per day. The case mix includes neonatology and pediatrics. The facility utilizes the Epic EMR system. Temporary hospital privileges are available, and while not required, a clean malpractice history is essential.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible within 3-5 years of residency.
- Licensed in CA.
- Possess a DEA.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
- Pediatric hospitalist background.
- Clean malpractice history; no restrictions or drug issues.
Nice To Haves
- Neonatology experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient pediatric and neonatal hospitalist coverage, managing 80% NICU and 20% pediatric patients.
- Perform neonatal airway management including intubation, resuscitation, and management of air leak/pneumothorax.
- Perform emergent procedures such as UVC/UAC placement, lumbar puncture, and needle decompression.
- Manage neonatal ventilators and provide respiratory support as needed.
- Collaborate with ED and anesthesia for pediatric patients requiring chest tubes or intubations.
- Attend C-section/high risk deliveries.
- Perform intubation (Pediatrics, Newborn).
- Perform Central Line Placement.
