About The Position

Sanford Children’s Hospital is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatrician to join a successful, well-established group of 5 physicians and 1 advanced practice providers. The role involves providing primary hospital, normal newborn nursery care and coordinating referrals to specialists within a 15-bed Children’s Hospital. The position also includes 24/7 PICU coverage and collaboration with local and outreach sub-specialties. The environment is described as having a culture of innovation and supportive administration.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a hospital affiliated residency Pediatric program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
Must be able to demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months.
If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinical setting activity for the last 12 months is required.

Nice To Haves

Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than the ACGME, AOA or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Responsibilities

Provide primary hospital, normal newborn nursery care and coordinate referrals to specialists
Admit (if applicable to setting), evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical, emotional, and social health as well as treating acute and chronic disease, including major complicated illnesses.
