Pediatric Home Care Nurse - RN / LPN
About The Position
Interim HealthCare is hiring a Pediatric Home Care Nurse (RN or LPN) to provide skilled nursing care to a pediatric client in the client’s home. The client has cerebral palsy, congenital dislocation of the hip, hydrocephalus, epilepsy without status epilepticus, dependence on supplemental oxygen, and gastrostomy status. Care is needed during weekday daytime hours and overnight shifts and includes comprehensive assessment, respiratory and seizure monitoring, medication and nebulizer administration, enteral feeding management, and assistance with activities of daily living. The client’s care involves supplemental oxygen, a suction machine, a continuous pulse oximeter, an abdominal binder, a gastrostomy tube, and bilateral AFOs. Nutritional needs are primarily met through G-tube feedings, with some pureed oral foods served according to established feeding recommendations and safety precautions. The client is nonverbal and primarily communicates using a picture-based sound board with choices. Interim HealthCare is a family-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned provider of home care and healthcare staffing services. The company has served the Sioux Falls community for over 35 years, Brookings for over 9 years, and Fargo for over 4 years under the same ownership. PRN and part-time opportunities, up to full-time, are available, with set day and overnight schedules. Requirements
- Active South Dakota Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility for licensure through reciprocity or multistate privileges, as applicable.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous LPN/RN experience, with 1,000 hours worked.
- One year of pediatric experience.
- Current CPR certification; on-site CPR certification is available for qualified candidates.
- Maintain all required certifications, qualifications, and professional standards.
- Ability to provide compassionate, professional nursing care in a variety of homes.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care that supports the client’s health, safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, Interim policies, and applicable regulations.
- Assess the client’s condition and monitor changes in health status.
- Monitor and document vital signs and other relevant clinical observations.
- Collaborate with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and facility staff to coordinate care.
- Respond to changes in the client’s condition and communicate concerns to appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Provide comprehensive assessment, respiratory and seizure monitoring, medication and nebulizer administration, enteral feeding management, and assistance with activities of daily living.
