About The Position

The Dentist will provide professional dental health care services to patients including emergency dental services, primary prevention, basic dental services that contain the disease process and rehabilitation dental services in accordance with the American Dental Association (ADA) and CBHA patient care policies to a diverse population of infants, children, and adolescents, specifically those with complex medical conditions, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges. Qualified in treating special needs population and maintains hospital privileges as needed. Participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the Chief Dental Officer.

  • Maintain authoritative skill and knowledge in the principles of sound dental practice.
  • Licensed to practice dentistry in Washington State.
  • Must have a DEA license.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Possesses CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
  • Possesses AIDS education or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
  • Possesses PALS certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
  • Completion of a CODA approved pediatric dental residency.
  • Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to provide effective communication of information in written (including electronic) correspondence.
  • Ability to provide effective communication of information during informal and formal verbal presentations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others.
  • Ability to ambulate effectively to deliver care to patients.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

Responsibilities

  • Perform dental procedures on patients according to ADA standards.
  • Supervise/manage/train dental department staff, including residents/students assigned by executive leader.
  • Interpretation of radiological images to prepare and execute patient treatment plans.
  • Provide patient dental education with assistance from interpreters as needed.
  • Document services on fee slips and in the electronic dental record within 72-hours of patient visit.
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams as needed to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Assist with the training of new dental assistants.
  • Supervise dental staff in absence of other leadership.
  • Consult on the purchase of new dental equipment.
  • Perform composite, GI, and amalgam restorations
  • Perform fixed prosthetics, including but not porcelain crowns, SSC, space maintainers, etc.
  • Perform simple and surgical dental extractions
  • Treat patients with moderate to severe dental infection.
  • Diagnose and manage within the scope of training diseases of the nerve and pulp and gum/bone disease
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth and gums for high-acuity patients.
  • Provide comprehensive dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia within the hospital Operating Room (OR).
  • Evaluate tooth and jaw development, monitor growth patterns, and plan, deliver, and adjust dental appliances as needed.
  • Participate in chart audits and quality assurance evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to CBHA activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information specific to CBHA.
