About The Position

Carle Health is seeking an additional BE/BC Pediatrics physician to join our Pediatric Child Abuse Safety Team (CAST) in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. This is a part-time opportunity with the potential for full-time employment by combining it with FTE for clinical practice. The role involves providing Child Maltreatment Evaluations and follow-up care. The physician will join a dedicated team of Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, and certified medical assistants who are passionate about child protection. The CAST is committed to ensuring safety and providing care for child abuse victims. They offer a dedicated team for triage, ED evaluations, and in-house consults, along with appropriate diagnostic and forensic investigations. The team also serves as a liaison to DCFS, police, and the court system, and provides outpatient services including forensic data collection and foster care clinic evaluations. Advocacy for the child's well-being, education and training for providers, and timely follow-up with referring physicians are also key aspects of the role. The CAST enhances existing services from a well-established outpatient Child Protection team and collaborates with Carle Emergency Department’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, the only state-wide 24/7 SANE program that includes pediatric sexual assault evaluations.
