AbbVie’s Product Development Science & Technology (PDS&T) Co-Op program provides students with project-based work experience tied to business needs. This co-op is intended for work experience and is not intended to support a thesis. The PDS&T organization within AbbVie Operations leads the optimization, validation, implementation, continuous improvement, and global technical support of therapeutic proteins. The co-op is part of the Bioprocess Development & Launch department, which designs, delivers, and supports biologics manufacturing processes for pipeline and partnered products through clinical development and commercial life cycle. Within that department, the Cell Line Development group generates and characterizes stable monoclonal cell lines using manual and automated processes, cell engineering techniques, molecular biology tools, and automation instrumentation. The group engineers transgenic expression vectors, evaluates cell line performance, and conducts genetic characterization to support selection of cell lines for manufacturing. The co-op will perform cell culture and molecular biology activities, acquire and analyze data, assist with experimental design and interpretation, document and communicate scientific work, and contribute to laboratory operations and project goals. This is a six-month program from June through December at AbbVie’s Worcester, Massachusetts location. The role requires travel 5% of the time.
