PCS Lab Technician
About The Position
The PCS Lab Technician will support laboratory and greenhouse activities at the San Luis Valley Research Center, part of Colorado State University's network of research centers. The center conducts research, extension education, and seed certification programs in service of the San Luis Valley and Colorado. Its research has included potato variety selection and breeding, as well as studies of cultural practices, diseases, and pests. Under the direction of the Pathology Lab Supervisor and with supervision from pathology research staff, the technician will assist with laboratory testing after training, help with disease testing, perform general laboratory procedures, maintain equipment and records, and assist with greenhouse work and cleaning. Applicants must be hardworking, willing to learn, and able to follow instructions. The position requires authorization to work in the United States by the employment start date and a pre-employment criminal background check.

Responsibilities
- Assist with laboratory test protocols after training, including preparing and processing samples for ELISA tests and conducting specified stages of PCR tests.
- Prepare media and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Perform record keeping and other general laboratory procedures.
- Assist the Disease Lab Supervisor with disease testing and laboratory activities.
- Assist with greenhouse tasks, including pot washing, filling, planting, and cleaning greenhouse bays, as needed.
- Clean laboratory spaces and equipment under the supervision of the Pathology RA.
