PCS Engineer

Micron Technology•Manassas, VA
•$110,500 - $131,000

About The Position

The PCS Engineer maintains and improves Fault Detection and Classification (FDC) systems and strategies for semiconductor manufacturing facilities. The role deploys and maintains FDC strategies using AMAT E3 to minimize excursion and scrap risks, monitors strategy performance, troubleshoots issues, and implements controlled system changes. It coordinates FDC work across manufacturing systems and programs, supports data analysis and automation, and collaborates with worldwide counterparts, customers, production management, and engineering management. The position also contributes to site-wide or global projects, owns cost-reduction efforts and manufacturing improvements, and follows applicable safety and environmental procedures. The employer accepts a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing process-control concepts, including statistical process control (SPC), fault detection, and data-driven monitoring techniques for equipment and processes.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data and system outputs to diagnose abnormal equipment or process behavior, evaluate trends, and support engineering decisions to mitigate performance deviations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems supporting semiconductor production, including MES and process-control platforms, and an understanding of rule-based logic.
  • Experience with structured manufacturing data using SQL, Python, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of root-cause analysis methodologies such as FMEA, RCA, or 8D to identify underlying causes and support corrective and preventive actions in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of automated reporting and dashboarding solutions used to aggregate, standardize, and monitor manufacturing data and equipment signals using common visualization tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Fault Detection and Classification systems and identify their dependencies for semiconductor manufacturing facilities and specific manufacturing areas.
  • Implement, comply with, maintain, and improve established standards.
  • Test and implement system changes and improvements.
  • Manage controlled modifications using Change Management methodologies.
  • Deploy and maintain FDC strategies—including data collection, summarized indicators, limits, and OCAPS—using AMAT E3 to minimize excursion and scrap risks.
  • Troubleshoot strategy-, tool-, and system-related issues, documenting, escalating, and following them through to completion.
  • Monitor FDC strategy performance and effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Follow worldwide FDC best known methods, business rules, standards, and change-management procedures.
  • Align, share, and review FDC strategy best practices and excursion and scrap prevention with worldwide counterparts.
  • Participate in and present at daily tactical meetings, interact frequently with customers, and support the exploration, analysis, and promotion of FDC data use.
  • Evaluate and monitor program-access user lists in compliance with product integrity, security, and intellectual property protection standards.
  • Coordinate FDC tasks using programs and systems including 300mm Semiconductor Manufacturing Execution Systems, Process Control Systems, Statistical Process Control, Advanced Process Control, FDC, GEM/SECS, Engineering Change Notice, and Global Conversion Process.
  • Act as a liaison between information systems, production area management, and engineering management.
  • Anticipate or diagnose automation issues across multiple equipment types within a manufacturing area.
  • Participate in projects with site-wide and/or global impact.
  • Reduce costs in the assigned area by completing cost-reduction projects, identifying cost-effective sustaining and manufacturing improvements, minimizing regular expenditures, and promoting a cost-conscious culture.
  • Follow safety and environmental procedures to comply with applicable regulations.
  • Participate in the EHSS program by promptly reporting related concerns or problems to the appropriate individual.

Benefits

  • Choice of medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Programs to help protect income in the event of illness or injury.
  • Paid family leave.
  • Paid time-off program.
  • Paid holidays.
