About The Position

Performs basic supportive care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of an RN or Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN or Care Manager. The role provides age-appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.

Requirements

• Completion of a fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience.
• Active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider).
• Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated competence in providing age-appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients, as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist.
• One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years, or equivalent education or certification.
• Ability to interact positively with patients, families, staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Collect, document, and report vital signs; complete screening questions, documentation, or minor specimen testing as assigned.
• Promote general patient safety, hold and position patients, assist with procedures, and prepare materials and supplies as delegated.
• Comply with HIPAA, maintain professionalism, and protect the confidentiality of patient information.
• Ensure environmental standards are met and unit and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Perform clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Complete continuing education and participate in educational opportunities.
• May act as a preceptor and train other staff.
• Collect, document, and report patient data to an RN or Care Manager.
