About The Position

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for payroll processing, general payroll related inquiry management, and other assigned accounting functions as needed. Work is completed in an accurate, detailed, timely, and professional manner in compliance with accounting regulations and department standards. Work is also performed in a cost-effective and service-oriented way as it relates to established organizational standards. Objectives include supportive interaction with program directors, staff, and outside service/product providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting OR five years of combined education and accounting/payroll experience
  • Knowledge and recent experience with computerized accounting systems
  • Knowledge and recent experience with Excel spreadsheets
  • Knowledge and recent experience with double-entry accounting
  • Knowledge and recent experience with ADP/Workforce Now HRIS
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and do repetitive and routine work
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and tact are required to handle confidential information
  • Provide services without ethnic or social prejudices
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime
  • Willingness to function as a team member
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to meet insurance carrier’s guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Bi-weekly payroll calculation and submittal
  • Deduction Reconciliations and Benefit Allocation
  • Garnishments, accruals (vacation and sick)
  • Payroll Taxes (Federal and State – CA and NV)
  • Manual Payroll Checks
  • Funding payroll requirements and Positive Pay
  • Communicate with supervisors, staff, and administrators regarding payroll items
  • Process housing allowances, mileage, travel and other reimbursements
  • Prepare and submit Workers Compensation report monthly
  • Work with Staff Accountants on Payroll Reclassifications
  • Reconciliations of benefit liabilities and payments
  • Send Payroll Reports to Program Directors
  • Scan and Document retention/Scanning to Server Timely
  • Assist with Monitoring Visits
  • Work with Program Directors on Timecards, Time Off, Accruals, etc.
  • 990 Data Support
  • Back up to Accounts Payable Accountant
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll taxes and reporting
  • Audit Support as Necessary
  • Other Duties as Assigned
