In fact, VOA-NCNN provides shelter or housing to over 3,500 men, women, and children every night. VOA, a Certified Great Place to Work, is recruiting for a Payroll Specialist for VOA-NCNN. Full-time employees (working 30 or more hours a week) are eligible for a benefits package that includes paid holidays, vacation, sick pay, health, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance coverage.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Five years of combined education and accounting/ payroll experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement.
  • Knowledge and recent experience with computerized accounting systems, Excel spreadsheets, double-entry accounting, and ADP/Workforce Now HRIS.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and do repetitive and routine work.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and tact are required to handle confidential information.
  • Provide services without ethnic or social prejudices.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime and willingness to function as a team member.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet our insurance carrier’s guidelines are required.

Responsibilities

  • Bi-weekly payroll calculation and submittal
  • Deduction Reconciliations and Benefit Allocation
  • Garnishments, accruals (vacation and sick)
  • Payroll Taxes (Federal and State – CA and NV)
  • Manual Payroll Checks
  • Funding payroll requirements and Positive Pay
  • Communicate with supervisors, staff, and administrators regarding payroll items
  • Process housing allowances, mileage, travel and other reimbursements
  • Prepare and submit Workers Compensation report monthly
  • Work with Staff Accountants on Payroll Reclassifications
  • Reconciliations of benefit liabilities and payments
  • Send Payroll Reports to Program Directors
  • Scan and Document retention/Scanning to Server Timely
  • Assist with Monitoring Visits
  • Work with Program Directors on Timecards, Time Off, Accruals, etc.
  • 990 Data Support
  • Back up to Accounts Payable Accountant
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll taxes and reporting
  • Audit Support as Necessary
  • Other Duties as Assigned
