About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and working closely with the Accounting Department, the Payroll Manager is responsible for the full payroll process, as well as for administering group insurance and employee benefits. The role also includes maintaining and updating all employee-related data in the system. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders across Germain Hotels’ hotels and restaurants in multiple provinces.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, spoken and written, due to interactions with English-speaking colleagues, partners, or clients across Canada;
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and prioritize effectively;
  • High level of discretion, attention to detail, and analytical mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Active membership in the Canadian Payroll Association (an asset);
  • Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations across Canadian provinces (an asset);

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate payroll department activities;
  • Process the full payroll cycle;
  • Ensure compliance of employee records (onboarding, terminations, and updates);
  • Calculate, update, and monitor various data (vacation, overtime, sick leave, etc.) and ensure their accuracy in the payroll system;
  • Ensure compliance with termination procedures, including electronic submission of Records of Employment;
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards across different provinces;
  • Manage group insurance (enrollments, billing, etc.);
  • Prepare remittances for source deductions and employer contributions on a monthly and/or periodic basis;
  • Handle annual registrations and filings;
  • Produce various payroll reports, including applicable subsidies;
  • Provide quality customer service to managers and employees regarding payroll, group insurance, group RRSP, etc.;
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement;
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor.
