About The Position

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager with a strong background in the construction industry to lead and manage all payroll-related functions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing, including certified payroll reporting, benefits administration, and expense reimbursements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-versed in construction payroll complexities, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, with significant experience in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems and timekeeping platforms
  • Deep understanding of payroll regulations and construction industry requirements
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manage and review certified payroll reporting in accordance with government and contract requirements (e.g., prevailing wage laws)
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation
  • Ensure adherence to all payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and industry-specific compliance requirements
  • Prepare and review payroll-related reports, filings, and reconciliations
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll audits and inquiries
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and coordination with vendors
  • Ensure accurate payroll deductions for benefits and proper reconciliation
  • Manage employee expense reimbursement processes, ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Review and approve expense reports for accuracy and proper documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, and controls
  • Provide guidance and support to payroll staff (if applicable)
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure alignment across functions
