About The Position

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Payroll & Human Resources Representative to join our dynamic Talent Programs team. The Talent Programs team oversees recruitment, talent development, and employee engagement initiatives to ensure a capable workforce that supports Canadian Blood Services mission and vision as well as implementing HR policies and programs that adhere to regulatory requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to employees on HR policies, HR programs, benefits, pension and pay related provisions of multiple collective agreements and the terms & conditions of employment. You will maintain information in relation to employee life cycle events within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring the integrity of the data and adherence to best practices. You will also partner with Talent Management and peers to ensure implementation of new or changing programs/provisions that are supported and incorporated into internal practices, managed within the HRIS system as appropriate, and provide guidance to employees and managers on their application/eligibility.

Requirements

  • Completion of a post-secondary level education in Human Resources, Payroll, Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience related to Human Resources, Payroll and supporting an HRIS system, preferably SAP.
  • Previous experience providing employee support for pay related inquiries and benefits/pension administration.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple collective agreement provisions relating to pay and employee entitlements.
  • Experience in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Previous experience working within a unionized environment will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to employees on HR policies, HR programs, benefits, pension and pay related provisions of multiple collective agreements and the terms & conditions of employment.
  • Maintain information in relation to employee life cycle events within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring the integrity of the data and adherence to best practices.
  • Partner with Talent Management and peers to ensure implementation of new or changing programs/provisions that are supported and incorporated into internal practices, managed within the HRIS system as appropriate, and provide guidance to employees and managers on their application/eligibility.
  • Act as the first point of contact for general inquiries and provide information on matters related to Human Resources policies, programs, and procedures; pay and quota related provisions of collective agreements and terms of conditions.
  • Support members of the People, Culture & Performance team in the area of Labour and Employee Relations.
  • Apply diversified and complex procedural rules/processes in support of employee changes including new hires, internal movements, leaves of absence, return to work, layoff and recall, termination, and retirement.
  • Manage pay related changes in accordance with collective agreement provisions and non-unionized compensation guidelines.
  • Administer pension and benefit programs in accordance with plan and legislated criteria.
  • Maintain databases, gather information and generate reports as prescribed by the collective agreements.
  • Support and guide management on Human Resources programs, policies, and procedures.
