About The Position

The Payroll / HR Generalist must be a detail-oriented team member to provide payroll backup support and assist with payroll operations to ensure continuity and accuracy across payroll functions. This role will work closely with the payroll team to learn processes, support compliance requirements, and provide coverage during absences or high-volume periods. Supports approximately 300 employees with bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union members. Provides Human Resources support in recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, retirement and pension management, and policy implementation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  • 2-5 years of payroll experience required.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years' experience with payroll and human resources processes.
  • Payroll, benefit & compensation administration, recruitment & onboarding processes, handling employee relations issues, organizational planning & development, FMLA/leave administration, employment law compliance (FLSA, ADEA, EEO, ADA, FMLA etc.), performance management, employee development, corrective action, employee investigations, regulatory reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, stress etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn to use the organizations Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and talent management systems.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of 500-hour probationary period.
  • Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen required upon conditional job offer.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience as an HR Generalist preferred.
  • SHRM certification preferred.
  • UKG Ready knowledge preferred.
