About The Position

The Payroll/HR Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in the ongoing success of the company by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while assisting Human Resources in general compliance initiatives. This position exercises discretion and independent judgment while administering payroll operations in accordance with company policies, federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong payroll background, experience with ADP, and the ability to work flexible hours to support payroll, compliance deadlines and operational demands. The Payroll/HR Compliance Specialist will process payroll for our organization on a weekly cadence, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customer service to employees and management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and possesses strong analytical, communication, and problemsolving skills while working collaboratively with Human Resources and the Accounting team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources and payroll processing experience, preferably in a QSR, retail, or full-service restaurant environment.
  • Experience with ADP or similar payroll processing systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in person
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, payroll tax requirements, and payroll best practices.
  • Experience processing payroll for a large, multi-shift workforce
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-payroll audits and reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure payroll accuracy before final approval.
  • Process wages, overtime, bonuses, allowances, deductions, garnishments, retroactive adjustments and off-cycle payments with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, federal and state payroll regulations, and company policies.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and timekeeping issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain employee payroll records to include direct deposit and pay card information while demonstrating the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources, Accounting, and Operations departments regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Prepare payroll reports, audits, and supporting documentation as requested by management for financial reporting and assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and payroll reconciliations.
  • Maintain and oversee compliance with new hire onboarding, I-9’s, and WOTC compliance supporting Human Resource initiatives.
