This position involves a range of responsibilities related to payroll and HR functions. Key duties include verifying figures, postings, and documents for accuracy, organizing and maintaining all files and records, and recording, storing, and analyzing computerized financial and payroll information. The role also requires preparing, maintaining, auditing, and distributing statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports and tables. Maintaining, updating, creating, securing, and archiving employee payroll records and files is essential. Additionally, the specialist will review, verify, and reconcile punches, hours worked, pay adjustments, and other pay-related information, and post this information onto designated records. Backing up transaction files and transmitting them to the payroll system according to company procedures is also part of the role. The specialist will process and/or issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions, compute employee wages and deductions (e.g., union dues, insurance, parking, 401k), and enter this data into the payroll system. Providing information to employees and managers/supervisors on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective bargaining agreement provisions is crucial. The role also includes completing batch adjustments to payroll and adjusting basic settings in the time clock system, such as employee schedules and time clock restrictions, and correcting punches. The position also requires adherence to all company policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is necessary, as is developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others and supporting team goals. Physical requirements include the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
