About The Position

The Payroll Financial Analyst (Level is dependent on years of experience) is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and company policies. The role involves preparing payroll tax filings, payroll tax deposits, benefit funding/contribution reporting, maintaining payroll records, and reconciling payroll related accounts resulting in accurate financial reporting and sound internal controls ensuring data integrity. This position is located in Bismarck, ND.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.
  • 1-4+ years of experience in payroll processing, tax filings, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of applicable payroll laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate reports.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ensuring accuracy in payroll processing and financial reporting.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in payroll data.
  • Clear and effective communication with team members.
  • Handling sensitive payroll information with discretion.
  • Providing support and assistance to employees and companies regarding payroll inquiries.
  • Managing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Prioritizing tasks to ensure timely payroll processing and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • FPC or CPP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of federal, state, and local payroll taxes and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Prepare and analyze payroll-related financial reports.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Actively participate in process improvements and standardization of payroll systems and software.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Respond to non-routine data requests or create ad hoc reports.
  • Research payroll law and apply knowledge to business practices and system set-up.
