About The Position

McPherson College is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Business Office. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys accounting, payroll, customer service, and working as part of a collaborative team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you'll help support the day-to-day financial operations of the College while serving students, employees, and vendors with professionalism and care. Requirements

  • Experience in accounts payable, payroll, bookkeeping, accounting support, or a similar business office environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • A willingness to learn new systems and support other members of the Business Office as needed.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with accounting or ERP software is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Processing accounts payable and vendor invoices.
  • Preparing payments and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Processing monthly student payroll and supporting student employment records.
  • Assisting with journal entries, reconciliations, and annual audit preparation.
  • Providing backup support for student accounts and other Business Office functions.
  • Answering questions from students, employees, and vendors with professionalism and excellent customer service.
  • Assisting with additional Business Office and administrative projects as needed.
  • Cross-train in payroll, human resources, student accounts, and other areas of the Business Office.
