About The Position

The Payroll / Accounting Clerk will be responsible for processing payroll for approximately 300 employees and providing excellent customer service to team members. Performs daily accounting and financial functions, which include entering data into computer; recording; calculating and summarizing numbers; reviewing documents for proper completion.

Requirements

  • Required high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Required 6 months previous payroll and accounting experience
  • Required proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in 10-key data entry
  • Applicant must be detail-oriented, and have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of company payroll policies, systems, and procedures
  • Position requires strong understanding of Wage and Hour laws related to payroll and Union CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement)
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural ques.
  • Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with payroll software and accounting programs
  • Preference is given to qualified Buena Vista Me-Wuk tribal members and members of other federally recognized tribes.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to employees
  • Assist employees with any payroll-related inquiries or concerns
  • Review timecards, verify hours, compute wages, and detect and reconcile discrepancies
  • Calculate, review, and verify tips and tokes
  • Process final pay checks for terminated employees
  • Process and reconcile employee deductions
  • Process employee reimbursements
  • Track and verify union fees such as dues and healthcare
  • Calculate and pay union for collected fees and healthcare
  • Ensure timecards and PTO (Paid Time Off) requests are approved within deadlines
  • Partner with Human Resources to maintain accurate payroll and employee databases
  • Provide training to team members on payroll software systems: Nettime and Engage
  • Provide support for Accounts Payable processing
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • All team members will follow the Everyone Greets Everyone (EGE) policy.
  • Team members will participate in all mandatory meetings and pre-shift BUZZ sessions.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and complies with all state, federal and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
