About The Position

Wise is looking for an exceptional Payment Product Operations Specialist to join their North America Payment Operations team in Austin. This is a dynamic position at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Operations, focused on scaling USD and CAD markets by transforming complex payment hurdles into seamless, automated systems. This role is for someone who thrives in fast-paced growth and autonomy, aiming to make North American payment rails efficient and seamless for customers.

Requirements

  • Delivered mid-sized projects working with engineers or other product or operational teams and can demonstrate clear impact.
  • Previous experience making improvements to a product or service.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean Six Sigma) and training in them.
  • Track record of achieving targets and goals, setting and monitoring success.
  • Ability to clearly articulate, simplify and scope problems, and follow through to completion.
  • Ability to identify gaps in processes and show initiative to independently solve new issues.
  • Technical understanding of the product and payment operations processes and ability to apply it to develop or recommend solutions.
  • Ability to listen and empathize with customer and team challenges.
  • Passion for finding solutions that positively impact Payment Operations teams and customers.
  • Comfortable getting own data, building dashboards using BI tools like Looker.
  • Ability to use data and customer insight to learn about problems, and scope and measure impact of problems and solutions.
  • Ability to measure all solutions against cross-team and customer impact; ability to magnify customer impact by identifying if solutions can be globalized to other teams/products.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels of stakeholders, from senior leadership to specialist level, and tailor communication for the right audience.
  • Consider and map mission impact when scoping new projects.
  • Comfortable providing feedback and speaking out if actions or solutions go against Wise’s principles/mission and when initiatives/projects drive unnecessary risks.
  • Actively seek stakeholder feedback and empathize with viewpoints and feedback from others.

  • Experience with SQL and LightDash for defining and tracking KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Audit USD/CAD payment routes to identify manual friction and build automation/workflow improvements to eliminate them.
  • Act as the strategic connective tissue between Product, Engineering, and Ops teams, translating technical constraints into operational reality and vice versa.
  • Lead high-impact projects from initial scoping and data analysis to final rollout.
  • Use SQL and LightDash to define and track KPIs, proving impact through metric improvements.
  • Act as a key mentor and strategic partner to Senior Specialists, guiding them through complex project delivery, scoping, and execution.
  • Serve as the North American subject matter expert for complex payment incidents and new regulatory shifts, strategizing for mitigation and resolution.
  • Establish SLAs and KPIs for new product features to ensure quality as Wise grows.
