About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Payloads Senior Engineering Manager (Level L) to lead our Seat Integration Team (SIT) based in Everett, Washington . This role involves leading and managing a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for strategy, supplier oversight, seat development projects, and program management of BFE and SFE seats and furniture. The manager will collaborate across airplane programs, suppliers, and various disciplines to drive quality, flow, and stability, while championing engineering excellence and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with strong program management and systems integration skills, deep knowledge of aircraft interiors and certification, and proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and suppliers. This position requires the ability to manage complex technical issues and prioritize multiple competing priorities and objectives from the program. Experience as an airplane-level technical or product integration leader, managing factory and field activities, and familiarity with interiors coordination tools and certification workflows is highly desirable. This position demands a proactive leader capable of balancing technical rigor with practical execution to deliver safe, compliant, and customer-focused seat installations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Manager leading engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering related role.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
  • Keeps safety and quality at the forefront of all activities.
  • Utilizes broad Interiors domain knowledge and experience to solve complex problems and effectively manage ambiguity, including dynamic program schedules.
  • Applies creativity and innovative thinking to develop solutions that meet customer and Boeing needs.
  • Proactively identifies and mitigates risks early by leveraging program management best practices.
  • Advise and influence managers and employees to ensure schedule adherence, optimize overall performance, and resolve technical or operational issues effectively.
  • Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
  • Participates in establishing and administering multiple projects.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies, and procedures, and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
