About The Position

Provides safe and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and miscellaneous supplies. The role requires interaction with patients and customers, coordination with other departments to assess transport needs, and familiarity with the hospital layout and patient testing areas. The transporter receives dispatch information and performs data entry using the Tele-Tracking System. The position also includes assisting with training new hires and performing other duties as assigned.

The employee must use proper body mechanics when lifting or moving patients, follow the Patient Identification and Alert Process, and pass fit testing for an N95 mask. The role requires compliance with applicable policies and standards, including requirements for protecting patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI). Department-specific duties and responsibilities are provided during orientation.

Requirements

• High school equivalent or GED.
• Pass fit testing for an N95 mask.
• Use proper body mechanics for lifting and/or moving patients.
• Be oriented to the physical layout of the hospital and patient testing areas.

Nice To Haves

• Less than one year of basic patient care experience.
• Knowledge and handling of transport equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, carts, and oxygen.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

• Understand and use the Patient Identification and Alert Process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards, including requirements for safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
