About The Position

Xanitos is hiring Part-Time 1st shift weekends Patient Transporters at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. This role is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transportation of patients, specimens, supplies, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destination. The goal is to enable physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties effectively while ensuring a high level of patient and customer satisfaction. Adherence to proper body mechanics, policies, procedures, and standards set by Xanitos, the hospital, department, and regulatory agencies is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent required.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Post-Offer Medical, Background Screening and Drug Test required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the janitorial industry a plus
  • Medical cleaning a plus

Responsibilities

  • Verifies correct patient identification using two patient identifiers and comparing information with assignment details, including full patient name and date of birth or Medical Record Number. Reports discrepancies immediately if identifiers do not match.
  • Ensures safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients to their destination using appropriate equipment.
  • Utilizes proper body mechanics when lifting and transferring patients to and from various surfaces (wheelchairs, gurneys, exam tables, chairs, beds).
  • Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age groups and cultures.
  • Verifies and utilizes the proper mode of transportation.
  • Follows standard and isolation precaution guidelines.
  • Ensures proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting patients.
  • Notifies nursing immediately if patient condition changes.
  • Properly secures IVs, drainage tubes, etc., and secures the patient prior to transporting.
  • Notifies nursing personnel, clinical staff, technicians, or receptionists upon patient arrival.
  • Ensures patient comfort and dignity by being attentive, covering the patient properly, and engaging in appropriate conversation. Does not transport patients experiencing moderate to severe pain.
  • Assists nursing in transferring patients to and from beds or chairs to wheelchairs or gurneys, consulting with nursing and obtaining assistance when required.
  • Notifies the dispatcher of any delays, cancellations, or changes in transport status.
  • Removes and properly bags soiled linen after each transport.
  • Sanitizes all transport equipment after each use.
  • Never leaves a patient alone in a treatment area or corridor and ensures proper hand-off to receiving department personnel.
  • Reports any equipment needing repair.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Collects and returns transportation equipment to the proper storage place.
  • Responds to emergency situations according to hospital policy.
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
