About The Position

St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute at The Villages is hiring a part-time Patient Transporter to support its ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The role includes transporting and assisting patients throughout the building, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and interacting with patients professionally and empathetically. St. Luke’s describes itself as a family-owned ophthalmic practice with five locations in the Gulf Coast region of Florida and two in The Villages, operating for over 58 years.

Requirements

• Project professionalism in presentation and demeanor when representing the ASC to patients, the general public, and St. Luke’s.
• Have excellent verbal communication skills with patients and staff.
• Be able to listen and empathize.
• Demonstrate patience.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
• Be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Be able to push wheelchairs.
• High school diploma.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients between different areas of the building, including surgery, clinic, and waiting areas.
• Clean and sanitize waiting areas, wheelchairs, and frequently touched surfaces.
• Assemble patient packets.
• Assist with stocking the ASC with materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
