Transports patients and equipment throughout the Hospitals and Clinics. This role is responsible for transporting patients, belongings, and deceased individuals to and from assigned departments. It also involves assisting floor staff in preparing patients for transport, moving specific patient-related equipment and beds, and utilizing a technology system for equipment deliveries. The position also assists with wheelchair management, including identifying wheelchairs for cleaning and repair, transporting them to appropriate departments, and maintaining their availability in assigned locations. Assignments are received through the Transport Tracker XT Program. The transporter must properly identify patients before transport, ensure they have identification, and assist them in and out of vehicles and transport equipment. Interaction with patients should be professional, avoiding conversation that excludes them. Collaboration with other healthcare team members is essential for facilitating patient care and services. Maintaining eye contact, greeting patients, and communicating the transport destination are key aspects of patient interaction. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role requires accountability for all job-specific obligations and compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Additional competencies and skills outlined in department-specific orientation will be considered essential.
