About The Position

The Patient Transport Aide is responsible for safely, promptly, and accurately transporting patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations so clinical staff can perform their duties effectively. The role supports positive patient and customer satisfaction and requires proper body mechanics and adherence to hospital, department, and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards. The aide is expected to be a positive role model and team player who demonstrates the organization’s mission and values and is sensitive and attentive to patient and guest needs. The position is at 80 Seymour Street, with a schedule of 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and every other weekend and holiday. Hartford Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital offering advanced treatment and care.

Requirements

Must be able to read and speak English.

Responsibilities

Respond to transport requests with a sense of urgency.
Ensure oxygen tanks are not empty and contain enough oxygen for the entire transport.
Ensure patient comfort throughout the transport by being attentive, offering blankets, checking modesty, and engaging only in appropriate conversation involving the patient.
Safely, promptly, and accurately transport patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations.
Use proper body mechanics and follow hospital, department, and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards.
Support positive patient and customer satisfaction and demonstrate the organization’s mission and values as a team player.
