About The Position

Patient Support Specialists assist at various offices within their region, performing administrative and clinical functions in support of technicians, opticians, and patient services representatives within our optometry practices. This role offers variety in the workday and the opportunity to learn all three practice areas: technician support (preliminary testing), optician support (counseling on frames and lenses), and patient services representative support (clerical, check-in/out, payments, scheduling). This is a traveling position supporting optometry practices in the Marion and Fort Wayne Region.

Requirements

High school graduate, or equivalent
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Proactive learner
Polite, professional, and courteous
Ability to lead, motivate and promote a team environment
Adaptable
Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in medical office and/or direct patient care is preferred
Previous experience in optometry environment is preferred

Responsibilities

Perform administrative and clinical functions in support of technicians, opticians, and patient services representatives.
Assist with preliminary patient testing.
Counsel patients on selecting frames and lenses.
Provide clerical support for the practice.
Welcome patients and prepare them for appointments.
Check patients out, take payments, and assist with follow-up appointment scheduling.
Learn and perform duties in all three practice areas (technician, optician, patient services representative).
