About The Position

The Patient Support Associate (PSA) in Cardiology is responsible for handling incoming telephone calls, scheduling appointments, registering patients, obtaining prior authorizations, reviewing provider templates, and providing administrative support. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient patient flow and ensuring excellent customer service within the cardiology practice. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, located in Glenview, IL. Occasional travel to other sites may be required based on department needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
1 – 2 years in an administrative/customer service position.
EPIC knowledge and experience preferred.
Enjoy working at a fast past with the capacity to multi-task, displays flexibility, and takes initiative.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Answer all incoming telephone calls from patients, physicians, and other departments and handle each as appropriate in accordance with NorthShore telephone customer service standards and practice protocols including documenting in Epic telephone encounters.
Utilize Epic to schedule and register all new, established, and post-procedure patients in accordance with patient and physician preferences, physician availability, and practice protocols.
Obtain prior authorization for procedures.
Review provider templates.
Provide other administrative support under the direction of the Physicians and Practice Manager.
