About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant (MA/PSA) in Dermatology plays a crucial role in supporting the physician practice by managing administrative tasks and providing direct patient support. This full-time position involves interacting with patients, scheduling appointments, handling co-payments, completing registrations, and ensuring smooth front office operations. The role also includes clinical support such as documenting vital signs, performing basic vitals, and potentially assisting with phlebotomy and injections. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred.
- On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patient
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
