About The Position

UW Medicine Northwest Surgical Specialties and Hernia Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Supervisor. This is a 100% FTE, 40 hours per week position, with a day shift schedule from Mondays to Fridays, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The role involves assisting managers and physicians in developing and implementing patient care systems, identifying and planning for staffing needs, preparing employee schedules, and evaluating daily workload to adjust staff assignments. The supervisor will delegate, manage change, set expectations, solve problems, and foster teamwork and collaboration. They will also identify quality benchmarks, assess departmental performance, design improvement plans, develop goals and objectives, and maintain policies and procedures. Budget development, expense monitoring, and improving department cost efficiency and productivity are also key responsibilities. The role includes facilitating open communication, interviewing and selecting staff, evaluating performance, and collaborating with management on departmental budgets and productivity.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a medically related or public relations field AND one year experience in a healthcare setting which includes lead responsibility or Equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist managers and physicians to develop and implement patient care systems
  • Identify and plan for staffing needs and proactively takes appropriate action
  • Prepare employee schedules and assign work to staff; evaluate daily workload, workflow, and adjust staff assignments accordingly
  • Effectively delegate, manage change, set expectations and goals, make decisions, solve problems, and model fairness and respect

  • Identify quality benchmarks, assess departmental performance and design improvement plans

  • Improve department cost efficiency and productivity
  • Facilitate open communications and joint decision making with staff
  • Interview and select staff, hires, and promotions
  • Evaluate staff performance and competency; coach/discipline/discharge to improve individual and departmental performance
  • Collaborate with management to develop departmental budget, monitors data to evaluate department productivity, maintains a cost-effective department
