About The Position

UW Medicine Northwest Surgical Specialties and Hernia Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Supervisor. This is a 100% FTE, 40 hours per week position, with a day shift schedule from Mondays to Fridays, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. The role involves assisting managers and physicians in developing and implementing patient care systems, identifying and planning for staffing needs, preparing employee schedules, and evaluating daily workload to adjust staff assignments. The supervisor will delegate effectively, manage change, set expectations and goals, make decisions, solve problems, and foster teamwork and collaboration. This position is also responsible for identifying quality benchmarks, assessing departmental performance, designing improvement plans, developing goals and objectives, and maintaining policies and procedures. Budget development, expense monitoring, and improving department cost efficiency and productivity are also key aspects of this role. The supervisor will facilitate open communications, conduct interviews and select staff, evaluate performance, and provide coaching, discipline, or discharge as needed. Collaboration with management on departmental budgets and monitoring data for productivity are essential. The UW Medical Center–Northwest campus offers emergency and inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical, and therapeutic care in north Seattle.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a medically related or public relations field AND one year experience in a healthcare setting which includes lead responsibility or Equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist managers and physicians to develop and implement patient care systems
  • Identify and plan for staffing needs and proactively takes appropriate action

  • Interview and select staff, hires, and promotions
  • Evaluate staff performance and competency; coach/discipline/discharge to improve individual and departmental performance
  • Collaborate with management to develop departmental budget, monitors data to evaluate department productivity, maintains a cost-effective department
