This is a combined posting for Associate Patient Services Specialist, Patient Services Specialist and Senior Patient Services Specialist. Under the general supervision of the MGR PATIENT ACCESS/SCHEDULING, performs patient registration and pre-registration of scheduled accounts, verify insurance coverage, benefits, and obtains pre-certification, referral or authorizations as needed per insurance requirements; Participates in the collection of up-front revenue due the facility and provides quality customer service to internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Associate Patient Services Specialist: 6 months customer service experience.
  • Patient Services Specialist: 2 years of General office experience, which includes public interaction. 1 year of patient access experience.
  • Senior Patient Services Specialist: 2 years general office experience with public interaction. 3 years patient access experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Patient Services Specialist: General office experience.
  • Patient Services Specialist: Data entry, medical terminology and insurance experience. Medical setting experience.
  • Senior Patient Services Specialist: Courses in keyboarding and office practices. Courses in medical terminology. Upon hire: Epic Credentialing Data entry, medical terminology and insurance experience. Medical setting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient registration and pre-registration of scheduled accounts.
  • Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, and obtains pre-certification, referral or authorizations as needed per insurance requirements.
  • Participates in the collection of up-front revenue due the facility.
  • Provides quality customer service to internal and external customers.
