About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the front-end business operations for the assigned clinic including patient registration, verification of patient demographic information, and creating and maintaining patient electronic charts. This position answers incoming calls to the clinic and routes them as needed, and schedules intake appointments within established timeframes in the CBI EHR/EPM scheduling system. The role involves obtaining necessary demographic information, completing insurance verifications, identifying patient amounts due, and assisting uninsured patients by identifying potential funding sources or AHCCCS eligibility. The specialist also notifies a clinical team member upon completion of registration and schedules follow-up appointments as indicated by the clinical team.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have knowledge of AHCCCS, insurance, and strong customer service skills.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Healthcare is preferred.
  • 1- 3 years of experience with insurance verification and/or front desk experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the front-end business operations for the assigned clinic including patient registration, verification of patient demographic information, create and maintaining patient electronic chart.
  • Answers incoming calls to the clinic and routes as needed.
  • Schedules intake appointments within established timeframes in the CBI EHR/EPM scheduling system.
  • Obtains necessary demographic information including, but not limited to: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, insurance information.
  • Completes insurance verifications for each patient visit and identifies any patient amounts due at the time service is provided.
  • For uninsured patients, identifies any potential funding source, and identifies those potentially eligible for AHCCCS and refers to the eligibility and enrollment specialist for AHCCCS screening and application.
  • Notifies a clinical team member when registration is completed for services to be completed.
  • Schedules follow up appointments for clinic services as indicated by the clinical team.
