About The Position

Associate Patient Services Specialist at Queen of the Valley Medical Center Hospital. This position is Part time and will work 8-hour Variable Shifts. This includes collecting accurate demographic information, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility, obtaining authorization/pre-certification for services provided, and collecting patient liability prior to or at the time of service. Greets and serves patients in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner to promote sacred encounters. Performs duties under moderate supervision. Ages of Patients Served: Infant/Toddler (0-3), Children (4-12), Adolescent (13-20), Adult (21-64), Geriatric (65+) Employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Age-specific needs that the employee is required to know and understand will be reviewed and evaluated during job specific/department specific orientations and on-going thereafter. Requirements

  • Completion of a medical terminology class, Or ROP, Or 2 years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
  • Successful completion of the Patient Access Training modules within 90 days of obtaining position
  • 1 year experience in a healthcare or customer service setting
