About The Position

The Ministry's primary representative for all financial concerns of our patients. Provides all services needed to resolve a patient's financial needs, except in highly unique situations. Performs all financial clearance functions, including insurance verification, authorization, benefit analysis, financial counseling, and initial financial application completion. Understands all components of patient accounting and provides assistance with billing or collection issues. Performs all pre-registration and registration functions for patients. Conducts patient interviews, explains Medical Center policies, collects patient liabilities and financially clears the patient prior to or at the time of service. Provides financial counseling when appropriate. Greets and serves patients in a professional, friendly, and respectful manner to promote sacred encounters. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Preferred fields: Healthcare, Business Administration or related field. Or equivalent educ/experience 2 years of college, or High School graduate or equivalent, with 3 years of appropriate work experience in a financial setting indicating a high level of communication skills and organizational ability.
  • Completion of a medical terminology class. Or equivalent educ/experience ROP, or 2 years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding.
  • Successful completion of the Patient Access Training modules within 90 days of obtaining position.
  • 2 years Experience specific to patient registration, insurance verification, financial counseling/billing or collections.
  • 6 months Experience with insurance eligibility systems, including Medicaid (Medi-Cal), Medicare and other commercial and private payer eligibility systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Healthcare, Business Administration or related field.
  • Upon hire: CHAM certification through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)
  • Meditech experience.
