Responsible for aspects of front office management and operation as assigned. This role requires a high level of public contact and excellent interpersonal skills. The Patient Services Representative is responsible for complete and accurate patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, and accurately coding diagnoses given by physicians. They also handle posting all payments, balancing computer reports at day end, arranging for patient pre-payments, and enforcing financial agreements prior to service. The role involves gathering charge information, coding, entering data, completing the billing process, distributing billing information, filing insurance claims, and assisting patients with insurance forms. Additionally, they process unpaid accounts, act as a liaison between patients and medical staff, greet patients, check them in, verify insurance information, obtain necessary signatures, assist patients with mobility issues, maintain the appointment book, provide phone support, screen visitors, and handle outpatient charge processing and payment posting. The position also involves cashiering functions, preparing deposits, working with patients on financial arrangements, assisting with outpatient coding and error resolution, processing edits, and identifying trends to communicate to management. Updating patient account databases, scheduling appointments, answering patient questions, assembling charts, updating patient profiles, overseeing the waiting area, and assisting with insurance claims and benefit inquiries are also key duties. The role requires maintaining confidentiality and performing related work as required, including maintaining a neat and professional appearance and upholding organizational guidelines.
