About The Position

The Patient Services Representative will serve as the main point of contact for all patients and the community. This position will receive and process patient referrals, patient registration, verify demographics, obtain insurance cards and identification, and update medical records accurately and efficiently. In addition, the Patient Services Representative's responsibilities include scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options to patients, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED (required)
  • Knowledge of medical billing procedures (required)
  • Medical office software experience (required)
  • Basic math skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Healthcare or related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding (preferred)
  • Prior medical office experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all patients and the community.

  • Process admission paperwork and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for hospital billing systems.
  • Answer internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  • Ensure patient flow is maintained and informs Supervisor of any department and patient issues immediately.
  • Coordinate and prioritize bed placement needs to ensure prompt and appropriate placement of patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
