The Patient Services Coordinator supports patient-focused care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MD Anderson, where care is delivered through a multidisciplinary team approach focused on quality and patient outcomes. The position involves interacting with patients, family members, staff, and physicians in person and by phone, and scheduling patient visits and physician appointments. The ICU team participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit- and hospital-based committees, and local and national conferences. The coordinator greets and orients patients and family members, answers questions, explains available services, and schedules and coordinates appointments for provider visits, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments based on provider orders. The role also supports communication among patients, families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas; maintains appointment templates and patient records; and protects the security and confidentiality of patient information. This is an onsite day-shift position with two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts, including weekends. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant work experience; additional education may substitute for required experience on a one-to-one basis. An associate's degree and at least one year of recent patient care experience are preferred. A pre-employment skills test may be required. The position may require routine reviews and screening to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, and the ability to satisfy and maintain those requirements is a condition of hire and continued employment.
