About The Position

The Patient Service Specialist supports patients throughout the front desk registration process at The HealthCare Connection’s Mt. Healthy Vision Center. The role helps ensure a positive patient experience and serves as a welcoming point of contact. The organization seeks a customer-focused person who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and is committed to health equity.

The HealthCare Connection is a community health organization founded in 1967 as Ohio’s first Federally Qualified Health Center. It provides primary care and other services through two primary care locations and six school-based health centers, serving more than 20,000 patients.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting; front desk, registration, or scheduling experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer systems.
• Ability to multitask in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A resume must be attached to be considered.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• An offer of employment is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Familiarity with EHR systems; NextGen experience is a plus.
• Front desk, registration, or scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients upon arrival.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Collect payments and co-pays for services.
• Schedule, confirm, cancel, and reschedule appointments.
• Assist patients with forms and paperwork.
• Work with the Finance department regarding patient balances.
• Support administrative and reporting tasks as needed.
