Patient Service Representative - Primary Care

About The Position

The Patient Service Representative is an initial point of contact for front-office activity and helps direct patient flow at a physician office. The role performs patient check-ins and appointment scheduling, maintains patient financial records, and may serve as a switchboard operator as needed. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position is in the outpatient back office of BJC Medical Group Primary Care in Creve Coeur, working with clinical staff on inbasket messages and prior authorizations. It is a day-shift role with no call, weekends, or holidays. The position is benefit eligible.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
2–5 years of experience.

Medical office experience.

Responsibilities

Handle telephone calls from patients and staff and forward calls requiring triage.
Perform receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
Verify health insurance payment information and educate patients on applicable regulations.
Collect payments and record data.
Enter service charges, including assigning diagnostic codes and entering physician- and clinic-related charges.
Coordinate information with the Central Billing Office to ensure charges are captured and properly collected.
Perform patient check-ins and appointment scheduling.
Maintain patient financial records.
