Patient Service Representative II - General Surgery Clinic
About The Position
The Patient Service Representative II (PSR II), following established practices, policies, and guidelines, provides clerical and administrative support while handling a high volume of patient coordination and complex scheduling in the licensed clinics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The PSR II is cross-trained to cover multiple providers and serves as a resource. The role includes answering and triaging calls, scheduling and authorizing appointments, surgeries, and ancillary services, verifying insurance, processing and tracking referrals, and handling mail and patient information in compliance with HIPAA rules and Cedars-Sinai standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience working with insurance companies and obtaining authorizations.
Responsibilities
- Answer and triage calls, directing them to appropriate individuals or departments.
- Schedule appointments, surgeries, and ancillary services and obtain authorizations for them.
- Perform insurance verification functions.
- Process and track incoming and outgoing referrals.
- Sort and deposit mail and patient information in compliance with HIPAA rules and regulations and Cedars-Sinai standards.
- Assist with all work assignments.
- Cross-train to cover multiple providers and serve as a resource.
