About The Position

The Patient Service Representative reports to the Office Manager and provides front-office support in an outpatient medical practice. The role supports patient registration, appointment scheduling, patient check-in, management of patient information, and efficient patient flow. The representative also supports a collaborative, patient-focused environment by demonstrating Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Requirements

Knowledge of patient care needs across developmental stages and cultural backgrounds.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Proficiency in English and computer systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Two years of experience in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Answer and triage telephone calls, take accurate messages, direct calls appropriately, and ensure timely follow-up.
Obtain and accurately enter patient registration information.
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments, and track missed appointments.
Obtain required insurance authorizations and referrals and verify financial and insurance information.
Check patients in upon arrival, verify demographic and insurance information, obtain required identification, and collect and post co-payments.
Maintain efficient patient flow and notify clinical staff when patients arrive.
Perform discharge functions, including scheduling physician appointments, diagnostic testing, and hospital procedures.
Ensure required coding information is documented before patient departure.
Create and maintain patient medical records, as needed.
Reconcile and batch encounter forms at the end of the day.
Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards.
Protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
