About The Position

The Patient Scheduler works under supervision to coordinate patient reception, scheduling, and registration. The role obtains and records data related to the registration process and maintains knowledge of insurance and third-party payers, computer data entry and forms, and the Advanced Beneficiary Notification (ABN) process. The Patient Scheduler answers incoming calls using proper phone etiquette and provides exemplary customer service.

This is a part-time position at 0.6 FTE, working 24 hours per week on a variable shift. The position is onsite at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Applicants who meet the qualifications will receive an invitation to answer additional screening questions through the HireVue system.

Requirements

• Complete coursework in medical terminology within six months of hire.
• At least six months of clerical experience involving public contact, preferably in a medical setting.
• Experience with multi-line telephone systems, personal computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in an ancillary department, such as Radiology.
• Clerical experience in an ancillary department.
• Experience as an Admitting Representative or Scheduling Specialist.
