About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant, within the Nursing Resource Pool/Float Pool at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, performs specific patient care activities as assigned by the patient's RN, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. This role involves working with high-risk suicide precaution patients, requiring constant direct observation. The attendant will arrange meal and break times with the patient's nurse to ensure the patient is never unattended.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • CPR or BLS Certification
  • Able to maintain professionalism and self-control in difficult or stressful conditions

Responsibilities

  • Setting up food tray, assist with eating
  • Assisting patient with basic hygiene needs (bathing, brushing teeth)
  • Offering fluids
  • Accompanying patient on walks
  • Assisting patient to bathroom or chair
  • Providing Diversionary activities
  • Replacing nasal cannula
  • Re-applying intermittent compression devises (ICDs or SCDs)
  • Remain with, and observe the assigned patient at all times
  • Ensure that the patient is never unattended
