Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties in support of patient care and hospital operations.
  • When functioning as a patient sitter, provides 24-hour coverage, observing patient issues and ensuring patient safety on hospital clinical units.
  • When functioning as a transportation aide, transports patients, equipment, and supplies within the hospital, tracks transportation assignments, and assists with restocking supplies and day setups.
  • When functioning as a hospital entry screener, greets and screens individuals entering the facility (patients, visitors, employees) based on CDC guidelines and hospital policy to determine entry eligibility.
  • Remains present with patient and maintains visual observation at all times.
  • Removes all personal items.
  • Places patient in red gown.
  • Adheres to Sitter Guidelines and Standards of Care for patient care populations served.
  • Reports all behavior changes to the nurse.
