About The Position

The Patient Representative (PSR) - Wound Center position at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, part of Hartford HealthCare, involves performing a variety of secretarial, billing, and clerical duties. The role supports clinical staff to ensure optimal patient service. Responsibilities include using the electronic medical record (EMR) for scheduling appointments, processing patient charges, coordinating referrals, preparing paperwork, collecting patient information, and answering phones. The position requires a high school diploma, with an Associate's degree or equivalent knowledge preferred. Five years of experience in referral processes and patient scheduling/registration is necessary, along with familiarity with the EPIC EHR system, basic math, and computer skills. Prior experience in a medical office is highly preferred. Critical success factors include exemplary customer service, excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient reimbursement, and strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent knowledge in ambulatory environment
  • Past experience working in medical office highly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and outpatient third party reimbursement preferred

Responsibilities
